Bissau 07 August 2023As part of the implementation of the Annual Work Plan between UNFPA and RENLUV-GC/GB (National Network for the Fight Against Gender-Based Violence and Children in Guinea-Bissau), and the House of Rights, an opening ceremony was held to provide training for the Defence and Security Forces and prison guards on the rights of women and girls.

The opening ceremony took place today at the headquarters of the House of Rights in Bissau, and was chaired by the Secretary General of the Ministry of National Defence, the UNFPA Assistant Representative in Guinea-Bissau and the President of RENLUV-GC/GB.

The training, which will take place for 5 days (from 07 to 11 August), aims to strengthen the understanding of the problem of violation of the human rights of women and girls, among the entities of the defence and security forces and prison guard personnel, encouraging the practice of reporting the violation of their rights and how to properly address it with the institutions of Defence and Protection of Human Rights.

10 Prison officers, 40 Military officers, 20 National Guard officers, 30 Public Order Police officers, in a total of 100 participants, are expected to attend the training divided into 2 sessions.
