As part of the activities promoted on International Condom Day, during Carnival 2023, under the theme "Carnival for the Strengthening of National Cohesion and Regional Integration", which took place from 18 to 21 February 2023, the Guinean Social Marketing Agency (AGMS), with the support from the United Nations Population Fund, UNFPA, set up Tents for the Promotion and Free Distribution of Condoms in Bissau..

Outreach to the general public, focusing mainly on youth and adolescents, was carried out through interactive and mass media dissemination of key messages on STI/HIV/AIDS prevention that were communicated by peer educators, artists and comedians through theatre performances with the participation of comedians.

These actions aimed to contribute to the reduction of STI-HIV/AIDS prevalence and unwanted pregnancy of people aged 15-49 years in Guinea-Bissau, as, according to the National Strategic Plan for the Response to HIV/AIDS in Guinea-Bissau 2019-2023, the AIDS epidemic in Guinea-Bissau is widespread with an estimated HIV prevalence, by Spectrum in 2021, of 3.1% in the population aged 15-49 years
