With the support of UNFPA, Guinea-Bissau moves towards the Nairobi commitments

Canchungo May 24, 2021 – UNFPA supports the government of Guinea-Bissau through the General Directorate of Plan in carrying out the 1st training session on demographic dividend programming as part of 1 of the 7 commitments made by the country at the Nairobi Summit on the ICPD+25.

The training aims to strengthen national technicians with technical knowledge on the methodology of National Transfer Accounts-NTA, DD country profile report, and other tools to better understand the concept of the demographic dividend, thus allowing its capture in favor of promoting the sustainable economic growth. National technicians will also be able to prepare concept notes and sector projects that will allow for the capture of the Demographic Dividend.

In this 1st session, 11 technical staff from different sectoral ministries involved in this topic will be trained, namely (Youth, Education, Health, Employment, Women).

For this year, Guinea-Bissau should train a total of 22 specialists from the aforementioned ministries, by the 2nd stage of training, as part of the effort to reach the goal of a total of 220 specialists by 2030, thus fulfilling the commitments made by the country at the 2019 Nairobi Summit.
