UNFPA promotes coordination meeting between partners implementing the “Project for the political participation of women and young people for peace and development in Guinea-Bissau”
Within the framework of the project: “Support for the political participation of women and young people”, funded by the United Nations Peacebuilding Fund (PBF) and implemented by UNFPA, UN WOMEN and WFP, a coordination meeting took place on January 23, in Bissau, on the premises of the United Nations building, with all project implementing partners, namely: Ministry of Education, through the National Institute for the Development of Education (INDE) and the Directorate-General for Literacy and Non-Formal Education (DGAENF) , National Institute for Studies and Research (INEP), Padre António Vieira Institute (IPAV), Ubuntu Leaders Academy, Plan International, Tiniguena and the Women's Political Platform (PPM), also including the United Nations Integrated Peacebuilding Office in Guinea-Bissau and the Secretariat for the PBF.
The meeting aimed to present an assessment of the implementation of the project to date, serving as a mechanism for integration between the partners and to define the last phase of implementation in the country.
The project aims to empower women and youth to engage them in the country's political life, and thus contribute to the consolidation of peace and development, promoting the access of leaders of social change initiatives to political power.
