Bissau, 10 March 2023 - The formal act of signature of the document took place late this morning, by the Minister of Youth, Culture and Sports, Augusto Gomes, and the UNFPA Resident Representative in Guinea-Bissau, Jocelyn Fenard.

The Plan signed aims to support the national authorities in responding to the country's priorities on sexual and reproductive health and rights, in particular adolescent and youth health.

It also aims, particularly, to train young people from youth networks, conduct community awareness campaigns on issues of Sexual and Reproductive Health, Family Planning, Gender-Based Violence, Female Genital Mutilation, and also to support the implementation of youth summer vacation editions throughout the national territory, among others.

The Plan - which continues the work developed in the light of the UNDAF (United Nations Development Assistance Framework), the 6th Country Programme Document between UNFPA and the Government of Guinea-Bissau (6th CPD), the vision of the Global Agenda 2030 and its Sustainable Development Goals - envisages the implementation of actions aimed at promoting the demand for Family Planning products for Men, Women, adolescents and youth, including the most vulnerable people, to claim their rights to access sexual and reproductive health services and wellbeing in humanitarian contexts.

The event was also attended by the Secretary of State for Youth and Vocational Training, the Deputy Representative of UNFPA and technical staff of the Ministry of Youth, Culture and Sports.
