The United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA) in Guinea-Bissau delivered prevention items to Covid-19 to the ECOWAS Peace and Security Network for Women.
This delivery is part of the project to Empower women and promote citizenship to raise public awareness and collaboration, which aims to prevent the spread of coronavirus in the country, reduce the numbers of infected cases and mortality, prevent the negative impact on social life and in Guinea-Bissau, through active citizenship, and constructive collaboration between beneficiaries, civil society and the authorities. The project aims to collaborate with the Municipality of Bissau in the Organization of 3 identified Markets in the Autonomous Sector of Bissau: Pefine, Caracol and Bº Militar, continued monitoring and support in the Bairro de Ajuda market.
The batch of materials delivered consists of 100 liters of bleach, 5 boxes of detergent (washing powder), 50 buckets with taps, 32 boxes of 12-cell iron batteries for megaphones, 1120 liters of fuel (gasoline) and 20 banners.

It is a network that operates at sub-regional level in West African, and aims to coordinate and optimize women's initiatives in conflict prevention and resolution, peacekeeping and post-conflict reconstruction operations. As well as in the promotion of human rights, particularly that of vulnerable groups, to ensure a lasting peace in the ECOWAS region. One of the network's guidelines is the creation of national antennas in member countries.
